Taking Online STD Testing at Home!
There are people out there who won't take an STD test simply because they are
embarrassed to ask for one at the doctor. Look, it's understood that it can be somewhat uncomfortable, but doctor's
don't judge. In fact, doctors will tell you that it's always a good idea to get some type of STD test
at least once a year if you are sexually active. And while it's natural to be a little bit scared of it, and a little bit embarrassed of doing it, the fact is that it is something that you need to do as a mature adult. If you are absolutely
mortified at the idea of going to your doctor for an STD test, there is always online STD testing that can be done in the comfort of your own home.
Okay,
online STD testing kits aren't done online. It's not like you answer a few questions online and get a
result; you still have to draw blood and send in for results. What you do is buy a kit online, prick your finger with a lancet, put it on the sample card and mail it off to the lab in the pre-addressed envelope. It's quick, simple and, because you are nothing more than the number with a home access code, almost
completely anonymous. The next day you call up a number, or check the website, and get the results of your test right now.
There are some people who may quickly discount the idea of online STD
testing. A lot of people still believe that these home tests are somehow inferior to those that you can get at the doctor's office. The truth is that, when done correctly, most of these home STD test's have an
accuracy rate of about 99.9%, which is typically on par with what you would find at a doctor's office. As with a pregnancy test, there are always one or two mistakes here or there, but that is the same with the tests you find at doctor's offices as well.
One issue that typically derails most home STD tests is not following directions. It's a basic enough test, but if you cut corner's you are going to run into issues. As with any home test, if your results come back positive, or there was an issue with the test, visit a doctor as soon as possible to take a second test at their office.
